Circuit bend v2.1a, Sputnik was a kids toy
i picked up at the local flee market for $9AUD. Consisting of 6
sound buttons, with two mode switches that moved between music or
samples and high and low volume.
This toy had a nice circuit to play with,
with an interesting board and quite a solid outer shell. I ended
up putting in 4 small switches and an amp jack, with some unusual
results from the bends.
Bend 1 slowed
down the samples a little, but when the volume switch was turned
on high the sound was sped up.
Bend 2 sped the
sample up and when the volume switch was turned on the sample sped
up even more.
Bend 3 created
a nice screaming feedback that gave different sounds depending on
the buttons pressed ( pressing two or three buttons simultaneously
gave different sounds again in various pitches) . The volume switch
gave this strange gating feedback.
Bend 4 resulted
in a sort of strange gating effect that was quite musical and interesting,
the volume switch gave it a quicker gate.
Once finished i sprayed the outer case with
gray and orange spray paint that gives it this strange rusty gray
colour. Its pretty ruff but i got some nice strange sounds out of
it :)
