Circuit Bend #4 is more
of a mod i guess, as the main changes to the unit was the interface.
I basically took this
the huge, ugly monstrosity which i ripped appart and stuffed into
a jiffy box.
The main problem was
getting the interface as this thing had over 30 buttons on the unit
:/ I fooled around with the ideas of patchbays and multiple buttons
but ended up deciding on a series of body contacts.
I ended up with 5 large
knobs that interface with the 4 smaller knobs ( giving a range of
20 letters of the alphabet ) and a large knob in the middle which
gives you access to 5 notes.
I could only find 1
bend which gives the sound a muted tone and gives the notes a strange
charming sound. I also added a a reset switch and a 1/8 jack as
well as a led to show when the units on.
I guess for me this
was an experiment in design rarther than a serious bent instrument,
but i still think this thing will sound ace after running it though
a few external fx's.
Im also looking at adding
some pots to maybe crash bend the unit once the very helpfull guys
from the [Benders] yahoo group give me some ideas on what the fuck
i seem to be doing wrong with pots!
UPDATE!!
Ok, so i added a pot
that pitch shifts the Nursebox + added a 1/4 instead of a 1/8..
i was having a strange problem with impedance that was cutting out
the signinal on my mixer, but some rewiring fixed the problem. I
also added a light but i seem to keep blowing the globe :( also
today i seemed to pick up radio siginals on the thing!!! not quite
sure why that would be! Anyway the sample above is run through my
mixer with a delay pedal, but it sounded great like that :)
